The last week has seen temps dip into the -30's here at the ranch. So today I found myself dreaming of a time when the cool mornings would turn into nice sunny Autumn days carrying the smells of the seasonal change and the bugle of the bull elk in the air. On one of those days repeat hunter Mr. Palmer and his son shot a magnificent 455" Bull elk! I am sick of winter already and looking forward to spring...man that's a long way away.
The SPIDER BULL 2, of Silvertine, died on Nov 16, 2017. He was 11 years old. Spider worked hard this fall as a breeder on our ranch and dedicated himself to passing on his incredible genetics. He was a unique soul, and enjoyed playing hide and seek with me this fall. He will be greatly missed. Spider will be survived by his many sons well into the future. A memorial service organized by Silvertine was held yesterday at the lodge. Memorial donations may be made in Spiders name to Steve Rahn and will secure YOU a hunt on our ranch next fall.
The Lang Brothers had an action packed evening, both collecting their FIRST bull elk within a half hour of each other, and too boot they both scored within a few inches of each others around the 375" mark. Congratulations you two, it was one hell of a 20 hour day ....
