Eight year old Ty Thurow (Left) hunted with Silvertine in November of 2011. he harvested his first Big Game animal, a massive 5x6 bull elk scoring 333 SCI. Ty was no stranger with a skinning knife, his father Bob seen in the photo with him is a licensed professional trapper in British Columbia and has trained Ty well. Ty shot his bull elk with a .243 at 20 yards, right in the heart lungs for a perfect one shot kill. Ty also is a pro at scoring antlers and calling Wild Turkeys. The blood on his cheek is an old Canadian "First Blood" ritual, or so thats what I was told . . .
Accompanying him was his Hunting partner, nine year old Ryleigh Callendar (Right) from British Columbia, a school mate, and he too harvested his first, a 250 SCI inch trophy elk as seen in the photo. I believe when Ryleigh grows up he would like to become and extreem snowmobiler that can do massive jumps, backflips, and other stunts.
Thanks Bob and Glen for brining your sons all the way over here to hunt with us.
You know as we get older we forget about some of our hunts, and where we shot this or that deer, but we always remember the first one vividly. I feel so fortunate to have been part of Ty's and Ryleigh's "first" kill. Way to go guys, I know your dad's and I are extremely proud of you both!
