Kids First Time Hunt's
Cole MacDonald
David and his Step son Cole purchased a cancellation hunt from Silvertine over the US Thanksgiving weekend. After watching David shoot an elk with his bow and arrow Cole decided he wanted to try. Presenting David with dirt cheap price on a management deer, Silvertine and David were able to help Cole out. Cole spent several hours practising on a target with the ranch .22, then gravitated to class room lecture on shot placement. Cole was ready, and when this buck presented him with a opportunity on the second day he made a great one shot kill.
Ty Thurow & Ryleigh Callendar
Ty (8 yrs old) and Ryleigh (9 yrs old) shot their first elk at Silvertine in 2011. I had several Management Bulls that had 5x6 racks and wanted them gone. What a great trophy to offer a Youth for their first time Big Game Harvest. Both boys made great shots on their elk out of our large tree stands and the entire scenario unfolded just like it was supposed to. Congratulations Ty and Ryleigh you guys did a great job!
| Overview of the Program:
At Silvertine, we take great pride in introducing youth from any demographic area to hunting and the outdoors. We are so commited that in fact we have started our "Kids First Time Hunt" program to assist less fortunate youth with their first hunting trip, and hopefully keep their passion for hunting burning. This is a NEW program and has been started in 2012. It has not had any youths so far recieve the benifits, but we have had several guests in 2012 that brought their youth hunting with us in 2012 that did receive hunts under the "Youth Hunt Rates", they are showcased at the left. We will have an entire page dedicated to showcasing all the Kids that have received hunts benefits under our new program in the years to come. This program is a program we have set up to assist less fortunate families that have youth that want to experience a hunt at Silvertine. Even you will agree hunting has its costs, and we would like to donate more than we do, so we are asking for your help. For every dollar you donate, we will match it. A Family of our choice will receive a Management Hunt for a Big Game animal that we have available. If you would like to donate money to this program please just let me know. Please show your support! We all Know that as Hunters we need that recruitment and retention of new hunters, as it is probably the most significant challenge facing us to ensure our hunting heritage is protected and that the passion for this sport carries on to future generations. At Silvertine we encourage Parents to bring their Youth with them on their hunt to Silvertine by offering numerous Discounted Rates on Deer and Elk. Please check out our "Dates and Rates" page for details. At Silvertine we have had youth from 7-18 years of age. Our experienced staff will asses the youths abilities with the parent and determine the best senerio to hunt the youth. This way we can controle as many senerios as possible and put the youth in a position to make a positive shot and clean harvest on their first big game animal. We also strive to convey important messages about hunting ethics and other hunting related topics like: Hunting with respect which includes habitat, interests of fellow hunters and the non-hunting public, hunting responsibly so they have the skills and knowledge to harvest their Game confidently, and to minimize the loss if they are wounded during the hunt, using their firearm and other tools of the hunt wisely and safely, hunting with conservation in mind to benefit both game and non-game species, how to increase their understanding of how the public perceives hunters and the activity of hunting, and honouring their hunting heritage. While ethics can not be regulated, they do matter greatly to the general public and how they perceive and develop attitudes towards hunting. Next to safety, structuring the day so it provides a valuable learning experience for the Youth and their Parent is probably the most important factor to ensuring a successful hunting day. Since many of the youth may be hunting for their first time or have minimal outdoor experience, we will make to create a positive and safe environment to teach them not only about hunting, but safety, and our role as hunters of this countries beautiful natural resources. |
