Silvertines Big Game Hunting Guides
Steve Rahn

I was born and raised in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. Raised on a Cattle Ranch and growing up in a family full of big game hunters it gave me a deep appreciate and passion for the outdoors and love of animals. To this day I strive to continue a proud family ranching tradition dating back three generations here in British Columbia. My Hunting passion started from a young age, I cannot remember that far back when the first time I expressed an interest to go hunting, but I do vaguely recall asking my father to take me along on his annual moose hunts, and him saying something about needing to be potty trained first?
Always having a deep passion for the outdoors, horses, and hunting, once I finished a short term in University (and was potty trained fully) I ventured to the Yukon, were I guided Big game hunters on Horseback Hunting trips for Stone and Dall sheep for over 10 years. During the off season I would work as a cowboy on large cattle ranches in BC and Alberta for about 5 years. I purchased a raw chunk of land in the Fort St. John area of BC around 2004, and started raising and boarding horses! I now joined the ranks of being self employed. I built my herd up to over 100 head, ran brood mares and stallions, broke the young horses to ride, and sold them to trail riding and outfitting operators for many years. Having that many horses was a lot of fun, and work, but the profit margin was slim to say the least, so I decided to buy into my first hunting/guiding business with a partner. That "partnership" lasted two years before dissolving and I moved on. It was right around this time that I sold my Fort St. John home and moved to Clinton and started my Ranch in 2001. The large broodmare band of the past was reduced, and the purchase of our second guiding business "Buckskin Outfitting" just out of Clinton materialized. I continued guiding international hunters and breeding and rearing horses on a smaller scale, and decided to sell Buckskin Outfitting in 2006, as I had started "Silvertine Wildlife Co." in 2005, and it was growing leaps and bounds, and I could only successfully operate one business, so I sold my Free Ranch guiding concessions. As of 2018 I have been guiding hunters for 31 years, and know I am one of those fortunate outfitters that has never forgot why I got into this profession in the first place...because I love the outdoors, hunting, and sharing hunting experiences with others. Being personally involved in every hunters hunt is of utmost importance to me.
I have diversified the ranch into not only hunting, but rearing "Wildlife" like the Elk, Bison, Tibetan Yak, Wild Turkey, Aoudad, Markhor, Watusi, and many types of Sheep. For more information on my ranching endeavors when I am not guiding, please feel free to visit www.silvertineranch.ca

Odus Rahn (aka: Odi, or Odi-doe-dee, Odi-dog, or Bone Hunter) Born July 3, 2016
You know you are a small personalized operation when the Outfitters dog is a member of the team. Well ask any Silvertine client and they will say "Heck Ya" Odus is as instrumental as Steve in the smooth operation of Silvertine. Odus has many talents, but the biggest one is his nose. track an elk or looking for sheds, Odus has it mastered! He is a true Lab, and a team player, always willing to pitch in when their is skinning (or cooking) chores to be done. Odus also likes to have his own chair in the tree house and help watch for game, and he was on his first elk kill at 5 weeks of age, and now has amased well over a hundred big game kills and growing. Odus loves his job and is one cool dude!
Yeti (AKA: Spaghetti, Yeti-O) Born December 1, 2018
Well, team Rahn has grown buy one more in 2019. Now when you hunt with Steve and odus you get a third guide and tracker in training . . .Yeti. yeti is 8 months old at the begining of the 2019 season and is one high energy little fellow. Yeti's skills as a tracker are in the very rough stages, but one day he will be able to hold his own with the master odus, but for now he is just interested in playing and running with sticks. We are still not sure if Yeti has any other hidden talents just yet.

Ryan Hartling

Back in 2002 I had the privilege to have this young man guide for me on my old area in British Columbia before the creation of Silvertine. Ryan has continued to guide for me on and off ever since. He has made guiding big game his profession and guides about 8 months of the year, and has gathered more experience in the bush guiding big game than most men will ever do in nine lifetimes. Ryan manages several guide areas, one in British Columbia and the other in Saskatchewan. There he guides for large spring Black and Grizzly bears during the months of April-June, and September. During the October and November months he guides for Whitetails in Saskatchewan. This year we will be fortunate to have Ryan return to Silvertine for his third partial season in August and early September, so those of you that are fortunate to have him as your guide are in some of the most competent hands in the industry.
Ryan is married to his lovely wife Tarryl, whom is also a hunter, and they are busy during his time away from guiding raising and teaching their two young boys how to be sportsmen.
