Going back and forth across the Canadian and USA border should not be an issue for our guests, as long as you follow the rules its as easy as pie...well easier, I would not know how to make a pie.
What kind of questions are asked at the border?
Most of the time Border Services will ask questions related to your citizenship, as well as questions related to your journey (Where are you going? How long will you be in Canada?). When you book your hunt, I will send you an information package in the mail. In there will be a HUNT CONTRACT showing you have a booked for a hunt with us, as well to show the Customs Agent why you are carrying cash with you, and a Firearm.
I’m American, do I need a passport?
YES, all U.S. Citizens need to present a valid: passport, or an Enhanced Driver’s License, or one of the new Trusted Traveller program cards (NEXUS, FAST or SENTRI). CLICK HERE for information on how to apply for a US passport.
Can I carry large amounts of cash across the border?
You can carry up to $10,000.00USD without declaring it to customs. You can carry more, but you must declare this to Canada Customs Officer, and show them your Contract, this way it will verify why you have more than $10,000USD....hopefully you are bringing lots of cash:)
Can I carry firearms across the border?
Yes, its easy. Don't be discouraged about this, its really straight forward. When you arrive at the border you will declare your firearm. When you book your hunt with us, I will provide you with a "Non-Resident Firearms Import Form", fill this out ahead of time and sign it in front of the Customs Agent. You may bring up to three allowed guns across the border on one form and pay a $20.00 fee in Canadian dollars. Truthfully answer all questions they ask, and when they are satisfied that you have a valid reason for importing the firearm, they may verify that the firearm you have with you matches the one described in the documents. The biggest problem Americans have is forgetting about a handgun they have with them. People from many states, which allow concealed weapons, get snagged quite often. If you fail to declare this weapon it will be destroyed, you will pay a fine, and jail time is a real possibility- you will NOT be able to turn around and mail it home or put it in storage! Don’t make this mistake. CHECK YOUR GLOVE BOX GUYS! Canada also does not allow fully automatic firearms or firearms with suppressors or silencers on them. Only good ol' Sporting Rifles and Shotguns.
Crossbows and Archery equipment are not considered a firearm and do not require any permits.
