Welcome to Jakavula

Picture
In April 2013 I (Steve Rahn) will be travelling to South Africa with a few of my Clients to hunt. We are looking for a few other interested parties that would like to join us. Below is a write up on Theo's operation and his trophy Fees. I believe you will find his prices very reasonable for the quality a trophies and services he offers. Theo is not a Full time outfitter, but a Cattle rancher, and only takes a handful of guests each year on his home ranch, ensuring the highest quality trophies and cull hunting available. Its this small personalized touch to his operation that I like and you will feel, as I do, hunting with Theo is like hunting with a brother.
Accommodations & Catering

Comfortable single or double rooms are available within the guesthouse. Zella our hostess is an expert in the art of traditional cooking and will provide you with meals that will form one of the highlights of your safari. A selection of South African wines will also be served. When we travel to other concession areas, we will strive to make your accommodations comfortable and enjoyable.

Weather & Clothing

South Africa is a area of vast weather variants according to the season from 30F in winter to 110F in the summer months February-November.

Hunting safaris

Jakavula Safaris is located approximately 2 hour drive Northwest of Johannesburg in the pictures valley of the Waterberg Mountains. most of our hunting will take place on our home ranch. To obtain certain trophies we might have to travel to concession areas in the close vicinity. hunting season is open all year, but we would recommend our winter season (April-August). Your Safari starts on arrival at Johannesburg International Airport, where your professional Hunter will meet you. From there you will be transported to Jakavula.

Duration of Safari

The ideal period is seven days but we do cater for shorter hunts to a minimum of three days. When planning your safari accommodate for 1 animal per day. trophy and no trophy animals can b hunted during one trip. Your list of priority animals to be hunted can be changed to your liking  during your safari. Handgun, Bow, Muzzleloader hunters are welcome. bow hunters will only be taken out one on one. spot-and-stalk and hides will be used for bow hunting. Observers are still welcome.

Insurance

while all precautions are taken to protect you against accident, sickness, or other losses, no liability ca be accepted in this regards. You are required to arrange your own personal, travel, all risk hunting and medical insurance.

Firearms & Ammunition

We recommend that you bring along your own rifles and ammunition. a  calliber between .270 and .33 Mangum is sufficient for your hunt on jakavula. We also cater for handgun hunters best proven in the African field are the .44 Magnum and the .454 Casull revolvers or the single shot contenders.
